Boney the skeleton…
High in the mountains, far away from the “hustle and bustle” of Spikersville, is an abandoned mining camp in which lives a strange and reclusive old man named Boney the Skeleton. Boney is a hermit, but is extremely wealthy thanks to the mine he owns from which he’s harvested a fortune in mysterious jewels. Some of the gems and other jewels were found to have highly sought after mystical properties, and it wasn’t long before Knewt, Sr. got word of the singular mine shaft and sent his son, Knewt, Jr., there with the idea that the younger Knewt would strike up a deal with the miner in which both parties could mutually profit. Instead going there to strike an honest deal however, Knewt, Jr. saw an opportunity to pocket his father’s deal money and steal Boney’s claim for himself.
Up in the mountains, with no witnesses to see them, Knewt, Jr. and his henchmen, Gobby, Elvira and Badger, asked Boney for a demonstration of his blast mining technique. Boney obliged and set a charge of dynamite to ignite. Acting on orders from Knewt, Jr., his cronies tossed Boney into the mine shaft and set off the explosives.
That night, as Knewt, Jr. and his men celebrated in the mining camp, they were visited by a skeleton- the ghost of Boney! Knewt, Jr. and his men panicked and ran for their lives, vowing never to set foot in those mountains again.
Unbeknownst to them, the skeleton they saw that night was Boney himself, not a ghost. A strange reaction caused by several of the jewels caught in the explosion kept Boney alive in skeletal form.
Boney continues to mine his claim but dares not ever venture into the city again, for fear of being labeled a monster. Later, he will beseech you to work the mine for him, splitting the profits with you and cheering you on as you go head to head against your common enemy, Knewt, Jr.
